Failure to Respond

Failure to respond to any citation in the prescribed manner (within 20 days or appearing in court as directed) could result in the suspension of your driving privileges and numerous fees.

  • Failure to respond to your citation within 10 days of the ticket being issued will result in a default judgment being entered and a $35.00 default fee being assessed. The court will report your failure to respond to the Secretary of State, which may result in points or the charge appearing on your driving record, and your driver’s license may be suspended.
  • Failure to pay fines, costs, or fees within 45 days of the due date will result in the above actions plus the Court notifying the Secretary of State to take action against your driving privileges, and an additional $45.00 license clearance fee will be assessed.
  • Failure to pay fines, costs, or fees within 56 days of your appearance date or due date will result in the above fees plus an additional $45 suspension fee and a 20% late penalty fee being assessed. This late penalty fee is 20% of the total amount owed.
